Can you set up payroll for contractors (1099s) as well as employees?
Yes. Both W-2 employees and 1099 contractors are handled. We configure your platform to manage both classifications, set up contractor payment flows, and ensure 1099-NEC forms are generated and filed at year-end. We also include a basic contractor vs. employee classification audit so you're not accidentally misclassifying workers — a $10,000+ IRS mistake we've seen too many times.
What payroll platform will you set me up on?
We work with Gusto, Rippling, ADP Run, Paychex Flex, and QuickBooks Payroll. After our business audit, we'll recommend the right fit based on your size, benefits complexity, and accounting software. Our recommendation is based purely on your needs — we have no referral relationships that influence our advice.
We're in multiple states. Can you handle that?
Absolutely. Multi-state payroll is included in the Growth package. We register your employer accounts in each state where you have employees, configure state income tax withholding, set up state unemployment insurance (SUI), and handle any local tax requirements (Philadelphia, New York City, etc.). Up to 5 states are included; additional states are $150 each.
What happens if we hire someone after setup is complete?
That's the point. Once your system is configured, adding a new employee takes under 10 minutes — they complete digital onboarding on their own device, their banking is enrolled automatically, and they're in the next payroll run. Your 30-day (Solo) or 90-day (Growth) support window covers any questions that come up during those first hires.
Do you handle FEIN registration if we don't have one yet?
Yes. If your business doesn't have a Federal Employer Identification Number yet, we include the application as part of setup. It's typically issued in minutes when applied for online. We also handle state employer ID registration, which varies by state from same-day to 2–3 weeks — we account for that timeline in your setup schedule.
